Torrie Nicole's Bio

Young, soulful and vigorating. New Jersey born Torrie Nicole tantalizes any audience with her mesmerizing lyrics and captivating vocals. With an impressionable range from passionate to powerful, you'll never know where she'll take you next! The young singer/songwriter/producer knows exactly what she wants to sing about and how it should be relayed to an audience. "I'm an artist that clearly defines herself as being one who is creative. In order for me to exemplify this, I must be open to what I feel and what my audience feels. Yes...I am a gospel artist, but I don't want to limit my creativity to the different types of music that undertones my lyrics. For me
Gospel is not a specific sound… but it’s a message… the ‘good news’.

With a wide range of musical influences that include Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Toni Braxton, Tramaine Hawkins and Danibelle, Torrie created her own personalized style. Torrie identifies her sound as being rough, edgy and soft. "My voice is very versatile. I can sing some Anita Baker and come right back at you with some, 'Go Tell It On The Mountain' with that old traditional twang!"

Music played an important role in Torrie's God fearing home. Her mother was a member of a traveling gospel caravan and her father, a minister. "I can remember Daddy coaching my sister and I to perform before his sermons." Torrie's discovery of her musical gift was discovered at an early age. By her ninth birthday, she made her debut at a local church singing, "When I See Jesus." This was the beginning for Torrie Nicole. "The reaction from
the congregation blew me away; people were shouting and praising God. At that moment I knew I had found the purpose of my life."

Reared into a semi-challenged public school, Torrie made known what her interests were. "I was 5’10” in the 9th grade, so you can imagine what everyone thought I should be doing… playing Basketball! But I was actually into Track & field, Broadcasting and TV, the Marching Band, Choir and the Drama Department." But Torrie didn't get discouraged about her height, but she used it to her advantage. "I did a little modeling and entered some pageants for some college money. Ultimately my plan was to use all of this so I could become comfortable in front of people and gain a good strong stage presence."

It didn't take long for people to take notice in Torrie's talent. She began getting invitations to sing at weddings, funerals, sporting events and church functions. "Ministering God’s word through song is God’s purpose for my life. It’s my calling to fulfill his will for my life. I’ve been chosen to be an instrument for his use and I have willingly accepted the call.

Torrie admits that once she accepted the path God laid out for her, she looked back several times in her past , “denying my destiny, that’s what I was doing. I set my affections on turning from anything that resembled the church or God. I was away from home and my home church but God always stayed close. After a collage of shattered dreams ,a repeated broken heart and man-lead manipulation, Torrie had reached a point in her life where she acknowledged that she could no longer do this thing called “Life” alone. “It was the year of my college graduation and the month I turned 21. I fell on my knees in my childhood bedroom and cried like the first day I entered the world. For I was being reborn, but this time a spiritual birth was taking place. It was this day that marked the beginning of the rest of my life- I had rededicated my life back to the one who loved me first… Christ.”

Torrie acknowledges that, “being a Christian alone is full of discipline and sacrifice, but once the enemy knows you’re now a threat to his kingdom and the potential you possess to bring down his kingdom… GOD ALLOWS him access to cause havoc in our lives.” Many stumbling blocks and obstacles have stood in Torrie’s way but she looks upon them , as well disguised pedestals to her blessings. “Struggle builds Character, this is what my father has always told me, and I’ve adjusted to the struggle…no matter how painful or hurtful, allowing it refine me into the woman that I am now.”

Torrie has offered her gift of song to the likes of John Street (Philadelphia Mayor), Clifton Davis (Amen), Sheryl Lee Ralph (Moesha) , Senator Vincent Hughes (Philadelphia District), Chaka Fattah (U.S. Congressman) Renee Chennault-Fattah( NBC 10 anchor), Ed Rendell (PA governor Candidate), C. Delores Tucker (Chair of the National Political Congress of Black Women, Inc.,) as well as Notable politicians. However her most remembered serenade to date was to Dr. Ben Carson (world renown pediatric neurosurgeon). “To hear him speak on his life and the different obstacles he faced was just remarkable and amazing. I’m not a star struck kind of girl, but I was taken with all he does for humanity and above all his humility.”

Graced with a rare humbleness and a zeal for life, Torrie is ready for all that God has in stored for her. She’s exciting, fresh, passionate and God-driven. Torrie Nicole offers her brand of gospel flavor with an 'eclectic' twist. Torrie's versatility signals the world to get ready, get ready, get ready! For a major new talent is about to take flight!
